Welcome to the Assabet Valley Camera Club

WHO WE ARE:

Assabet Valley Camera Club (AVCC) was established in 1985 as a Hudson-based photography organization.

AVCC is a member of both the New England Camera Club Council and the Photographic Society of America, and also participates in interclub competitions on regional, national and international levels.

Members of various ages with a diversity of experience currently hail from over fifteen different communities in the surrounding area.

AVCC welcomes anyone interested in learning more about photography as a visual art and its practical application as a science.

Members benefit from the hands-on experiences, from the knowledge presented in programs, and from having their work critiqued.

MEETINGS:

Anyone interested in photography and expanding their pictorial skills is welcome to attend a club meeting.

AVCC meets the 1st. and 3rd. Wednesday of the month from September through May.  Meetings officially begin at 7:15 PM.

Generally, AVCC meetings are hybrid, and take place both on Zoom and in person in the Basement Meeting Room at the Hudson Senior Center, 29 Church Street, Hudson.

The first meeting of the month generally features a program designed to instruct and/or to entertain camera enthusiasts.

The second monthly meeting is a competition of members’ digital images, where the images are displayed on-line, judged and critiqued, by qualified judges.

If you are interested in attending a meeting, contact AVCC at avcc.digital@hotmail.com a few days prior to the meeting to request a link to the event or to let us know you will be attending in person.

The club’s Zoom room opens at 7:00 PM with a brief business meeting at 7:15.

***Note: in the event of inclement weather or COVID restrictions at the Senior Center, or the Hudson publics schools are closed, the meetings will be held via Zoom only.***

February Program: Layers and Masks Demystified by Hazel Meredith

Layers & Masking Demystified

 By Hazel Meredith, APSA, HonNEC

Learn why layers are important – and useful – when working in Photoshop. I’ll review the various types of layers and how they can make your workflow easier. I will also show you how to apply masking to a layer – a task many feel intimidated by. It’s easierthan you think!
